I discovered these trees in Greece when I lived there as a child. In French they're called "arbousier" & I remember tasting the fruit. So cool that you're Swiss German! We lived north of Basel in Alsace (France) for 11 years & I was told that Alsatian is very similar to Swiss German.

So cool. In Greece I only saw the strawberry tree butterfly, but there obviously have to be strawberry trees. And I did not know ‚arbousier‘ was the French word for it. Thanks for adding it to my vocabulary 🤩. I was in the Alsace only once and remember to have spoken French there. But it may well be that Alsatian has similarities with Swiss German. Where do you live now, if I may ask? Thank you so much for stopping by and taking the time to comment so kindly 🫶🏼.

Liebe Lorraine, every post from me comes in two languages, in case you would like to practice your German a little more 😊. Thank you so much for appreciating the bilingual effort. It means a lot to me 🥺.

I've been thinking about publishing my posts in 2 languages as well, English and French. You've inspired me to actually do that. 🙂

I most definitely will enjoy doing that! My children speak much better German than me, because they went to school in Alsace where German is taught a lot.

Hihihi! Was es alles gibt!

Oh my goodness!!!! So cool, I have never heard of the strawberry tree. That is amazing that it takes an entire year for the fruit to ripen. What an amazing experience. We have strawberries and a wild blackberry bush at my house, but I think I’d like a strawberry tree by the sea! Thank you so much for sharing this experience!

Awww, so grateful you appreciate my sharing of this wonderful Mediterranean tree. And how cool you have your own strawberries and wild blackberries in the garden. Hope you can pick some already.
